Just finished World War Z by Max Brooks, it's another zombie book and by far the best one I've read. It reads like a personal/historical account told by many people. I thought that would make it difficult to get into., but it was surprisingly easy to read and it is disturbingly realistic. The way governments and individuals reacted to the crisis was very much how you would expect them to react. Also it covered many countries instead of just focussing on America like most zombie books I've read. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
It mentioned a castle in France (château de Chenonceau) that sounded too bizarre to be real but I looked it up online and it is very real, very bizarre and very beautiful and apparently a good place to hide from zombies. Lookit.

The rest of the news in my life:
1. Driving is going well, today we went to Knocknashimna where everyone and her sister had decided to park in the road (on narrow residential streets). I managed to a) not crash, b) not run any of the pedestrians over and c) not hit any of the parked cars. Although I did stall once and at one point forgot that this is not America and that we do not drive on the right *facepalm*. I was all "what do you mean 'oncoming traffic'?" Oops!
2. I have dyed my hair and one finger (don't ask) violet. It still too wet for me to see the colour probably but it's got to be better than the washed out purple/plum that it was previously.
3. Less than a week until Decaydance Fest. What am I going to wear? *frets*

OMG help! I joined Read It Swap It to get new books and also get rid of some that I've read or don't want to read. I joined a week ago and I've already swapped 11 books! The problem is I'm not getting any time to read these books because I'm too busy SENDING THE DAMN BOOKS to other people. It's like literally every time I've finished packaging one lot of books, I have a bunch of requests for other books to deal with. And it's not like I haven't been turning people down, I have! But then someone with even better books comes along and I cave. Lordy. I am so grateful for Royal Mail's Online Postage.
Fellow Brits: What the fuckitty fuck is up with the weather lately? I got my garden all sorted out for summer but it appears to have been cancelled in favour of heavy rain and gale force winds. *sigh*

aingeal8c: You were in my dream the other night. We were hanging out with Pete Wentz (if only!) at this Fall Out Boy housing development thing that was being built for FOB fans so they could live near Pete (wtf?). He was kinda freaked out by it and was asking you what you thought of it. He called you Aingeal but pronounced it "angel". Then he made it snow by like, pressing a button and we made snow angels and watched people skiing while Pete was being emo. There was also a dead beaver (or maybe an otter!) which is just... I have no idea.

I've been learning Japanese using the Pimsleur language course (which I so did not download illegally *cough*). It's going well, the first lesson was easy but it's been getting harder. The hardest thing for me is not stressing any of the syllables. But anyway I can now have a short, stilted conversation with a very patient Japanese person. Go me!
I really don't have a whole lot else to report. I'm managing to read one book a week. Last week I read Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill, it's pretty awesome. I only picked it up because it came with a recommendation from Neil Gaiman and I can see why he liked it! So much horror and violence, some parts made me wish I could cover my eyes (kinda difficult to read like that). Needless to say, I loved it! I'm trying to read a Buffy novel this week but it's not really capturing my attention.
I tried to dye my hair red again earlier (the last colour had faded quite a bit). It's really bright which is great but it's also kinda pink... As is the bathroom now. Oops!
Sayonara!
